Today at the Dr. Layla was 20.5 lbs. and 29 and 3/4 inches long. URGH! She is not exactly wasting away in the weight area, but she's not really growing in leaps and bounds either. I think that is only a one pound gain in three months. NOT helpful for sleep stuff either. :( Layla is just bound to be "that child," I guess... :)
Right now she is using a toothbrush as a telephone and sounding VERY annoyed as she chats away. She is also throwing my PJs around the room and using my vitamins as shakers. Good times.
Layla, Finn, Cora and Kellan Schaefer's blog, for all the family members far and near who miss and love them...and who don't mind such a shamelessly Schaefer children-centered space.

Miss Attitude!
Layla has started to SCOWL in the last week! It's so funny to me, but I'm guessing I probably shouldn't laugh... I have no idea where she learned it...I certainly hope I never look at HER like she has been looking at ME lately! :) She busts out this look, only much more intense and "mad," when she is told "no," or simply when things aren't going as she would prefer. Ahhhh, here we go...

Christmas tree and PJs
We have had our tree up for several days now, but for some very strange reason Layla had no interest in it whatsoever! So crazy for a one-year-old! However, today we tried to get some pictures of her in a fancy dress by the tree...and now she's hooked! It's pretty cute. I'm glad I put all the soft and non-breakable ornaments down on the bottom...which will soon be stripped of all needles.
p.s. Check out Layla's PJs. Papa helped her "eat" today while I was doing some computer work. On top, the stain is Coke! (Ack!!!) On the bottom, the stain is a wild berry popsicle. Niiiice, Papa. Real nice.

I can't scan my ultrasound photos right now...
...so you only get words. But we have a confirmed BOY coming your way in April! My due date is April 24th (Easter Sunday), but I don't think they'll let me go longer than April 17th (39 weeks). I have NO boy clothes, and Renee has no boys so she can lend me clothes = Renee must have a boy in 3 weeks to stockpile the clothes I'll need. It's obvious, right?
Also, Layla decided to walk today! Phew. We're just getting all the biggies out in one day. She's taken one or two steps before, usually as she's falling/stumbling into my arms, so it hasn't really seemed like it "counted." However, today (allll day!) she was practicing standing up from a sitting position without holding on to anything, and eventually she just decided to go for it and made out for the bed. I'm just glad I was watching! :) I called Jonas in and we got her to do it several more times...but she started getting so excited and proud of herself that every other time she would fall over from glee. Cute stuff, people! Cute stuff.
For a "talking" update, I think I can say for sure that "all done" might be her first word, with "tickle, tickle, tickle" a close second. She now regularly will do her "tocka tocka tocka" while tickling her own feet, or my hand. We get an "Aaaaah Don" each time we close a book. She says something when saying "bye bye" and waving, but I can't quite make that out yet...I think it's still in baby language.
The End
