Quarantine May 27th:

We're almost to June!  2 more days of school left, and the kids are giddy with anticipation!  Other than humidity, summer is such a fantastic time around here.  We look forward to endless days in the pool, eating outside, and staying up late to play outside in the cool summer nights.  We are planning a "end of the school year" woodfire pizza night on Friday night...the special flour came in the mail today, so we are set.

Just like his big brother before him, this little play house makes him think far-away thoughts:

Look at that swinging grip!

Slooooooooowly burying things.

Making a potion at the beach.

This one sure loves to play in sand and dirt.  We need to fill up the sandbox a bit more for his entertainment pleasures.

The newest member of the Schaefer household:  a metal detector!  As expected, Finn is OVER THE MOON about this development.  He has high hopes for treasure and easy riches, haha.

How she sleeps.  In the very MIDDLE of the bed, neck pillow on top of a massive pillow, fuzzy blanket on top of all the sheets.  It's kind of amazing.

Finn got this dinosaur from Mr. Piyush for his birthday 3 years ago, and that thing is still going strong!  I am rather amazed.  Kellan is obsessed with dinosaurs, and loves all things electronic and gadget and car, so this is like the best of both worlds.  He had a blast and learned that remote moderately well, too.
I want to be able to squat like this for hours, too...

Tomorrow is my baby sister Lauren's birthday!  In honor of her special day, Finn drew her picture.  Adorable of BOTH of them.

Yesterday we got a fun gift in the mail:  Uncle Scooter and Aunt Laura and the boys send a floating basketball hoop for the 3 April birthdays!  Hooray for summer fun!

Parenting goals:  4th child is playing happily in the sand box (see his head there in the back, FAR away?), Mother has her feet UP and is not being endlessly productive.  Welcome, sweet summer.  We love you.

Kellan and I took a walk down to the beach today at 9:00 a.m.  It was just us there, along with the two birders who were geeking out about the flock of ...swans?  Seagulls?  in the middle of the lake.  I tried to sound really excited when they told me, but I'm not sure I pulled it off.    But do you know what does make me super happy?  Being ALONE at the beach, with no unsupervised kids running around and ignoring social distancing rules.

The kids are excited for try #2 with the pizza oven on Friday!

Feeding the ants a feast:  chips, suckers, and a mini-pizza.  Finn INSISTED on the mini-pizza.

 Practicing levitation:

On a bike ride around the lake...the convenience of which can not be beat!

A golden hour walk in a field of "wishing flowers."

Just paddling around, checking stuff out...

Over Memorial Day weekend Jonas spent one afternoon getting his wood EXTRA chopped and split.

All ready for cozy winter fires

Jonas also made some great bread.

Our kids have SKINNY hips, which they did NOT get from me, sadly.  Kellan can still sort of fit into his 12 month swim diaper, haha.

That messed up face was his attempt to go bombing down the driveway in his trike with bare feet.

Oh happy day!  Punch Pizza, the food Jonas lives for, is open again for takeout!  Civilization at LAST, haha.

 Fireman Kellan:
Still on duty.  Still happy being 2nd in command, just holding that hose...
