Colorado

I'm always tempted to dedicate the first few lines of every blog post to how much I dislike this blogging platform.  Going to try not to do that.  (After this).

So yes, we're going to Italy in two weeks, and yes, we've having to save as much money as we can to make that happen, but...  we also have been wanting to visit our friends in Colorado for a while, and with the kids on Fall Break, it seemed like a good opportunity, if we spent as little money as possible.  So on Oct. 16th we headed out to Colorado.

As always, we had some technical difficulties in the car on the way out.  A road trip wouldn't be right without some amount of tech issues.  But we got the kids all hooked up and we were on our way.

After 14+ hours of driving, we were at their house the same day.

The first thing we did the next day was visit the Garden of the Gods.  Very cool.  The kids loved it.

I don't remember what we did for the rest of the day on Thursday...  mainly just the climbing thing.

The next day we did a LOT of driving.  To the mountains and up...

Over a Colorado pass.  The van wasn't struggling, but it sort of felt like it should be.

At the top there was snow.

This was on the way up Pikes Peak.  We didn't make it all the way to the top, and given how cold it was at this point, I'm not surprised it was closed the rest of the way up.

Afterwards, we went to Breckenridge, had lunch, and looked around town.

The kids had a really great time together.  Immediately after arriving we basically just let them do their thing.  Magic.  Lots of fun.  We parents had a lot of great conversations as well.

The last day we took it easy.  We were sort of exhausted.  The only thing we really did was go to a movie at the end of the day.  Great for everyone.
