Our Weekend-o-Fun:

We had a really delightful weekend!  :)

Saturday night we met at my parent's house to celebrate Finn and Andrea's birthdays--a "few" pictures below:

Layla got to the cake before I could take a picture....she's addicted to frosting.  :)

After all those cake searches on Pinterest I didn't even do any of them.  This is because I realized neither of my kids EAT cake.  Layla likes frosting, and Finn likes candy, but neither of them like cake.  So...it's mostly for me that I make them, I guess!  I might have to re-think this tradition until they wise up and realize cake is heaven.  ;)

The joy of opening presents.  :)

This is what Jonas calls Finn.  :)

Finn loving his hammer(s) from Aunt Renee! :)

Uncle Greg and Aunt Andrea gave Finn a BBQ/Grill set.  Layla and Finn have been cooking me a LOT of food lately.  ;)

Aunt Andrea's Strawberry and Cream cake.

Here I am catching Dan in the act of giving my dairy allergic son...

...some delicious whipped cream.  ;)

Singing the Happy Birthday Songs.

No one loves blowing out fire more than Finn.

Jonas pausing the celebration to talk to Scooter.  ;)

Layla in heaven.  Step 1.

Step 2.

Step 3.

Step 4.

Grandma indulged his fire obsession several more times....

Yesterday was the 2nd annual Cinco de Mayo party at the Horsmans, and MAN was it a party!  I brought both my camera and my new-to-me Flip (thanks Greg and Andrea!), but I was having so much fun I didn't take one single picture or video!  I'm sorry, because it was a fantastic party and sight to behold, and the weather and lighting were just perfect...but alas.  I slacked.  Sorry! :)  You can catch some pictures Renee might have on FB sometime soon, I'm sure...

Our little family birthday dinner for Finn. :)

Here are some pictures from our little family celebration for Finn on the 19th.  If the kids seem to be always looking in one direction all the time, it's because they were watching/talking to Sue Schaefer/Grammy (via Skype) while we did our festivities.  :)

I don't wanna talk about the cake...

...I shall redeem myself at the next Finn birthday part in a few weeks.

Blowing out fire:  his FAVE part of any birthday.

Checking to see if Grammy saw him blow out that fire.

SEE, Grammy?  :)

Grammy gave Finn a REAL Ukelele!  He loves it, of course.  He knew it was a "bi-tar" before I did, just from the shape of the package.

That's quite the fancy hold, big guy.

Layla, stunned by the awesomeness of the harmonica.
She figured it out--how to play it--as soon as we quit Skyping , Grammy.

Finn got it pretty fast!

Observing another of Finn's gifts.  Birthdays for other people are not quite as much fun as she thought.

He actually at NO cake.  Nothing.  Nada.  He's just not a big fan.  He'll eat the M&Ms every now and then, but really not much else.

Layla doesn't like cake either, but she loves--ADORES--frosting, and sprinkles.

Back to fun.

Moving on from the frosting on her cake to the frosting on THE cake.

This is what Layla does to the top of a cake.  :)

Happy Birthday big guy!  :)

In other news, we are going up to Duluth for the night.  (And I need to leave this so I can go pack!  We are heading out in an hour or so).  I got a Groupon for half off at The Edge hotel and water park up there, so we thought the end of April sounded like a lovely time for a trip as a family.  Sigh.  Yeah, right.  Duluth got about 2 feet of snow a few days ago, and likely will get more today.  We are SO paying for the heaven that was last winter.  :(  BUT, the water park should be GREAT fun with the kids.  We'll just stay inside the whole time.  :)  More pictures to come on Tuesday.  Have a great day, folks!
