Weekend:

This past weekend I went up to Bemidji while Jonas stayed home with the kids.  I think it worked out pretty well for everyone involved!  :)

I left on Saturday morning at 8:00 since I had been up at 5:15 with the kids anyway.  MERCY.  Early risers are gonna kill me.  As I was doing all of my crazy normal Friday activities (errands, making meals for other people, SPF church stuff, etc.) I knew I was forgetting something important, but it never came to me.  Late at night on Friday I realized that I had forgotten to go to the library and get a book on CD to listen to on the drives up and down.  Bummer.  I love listening to books on CD, and I never get to do it these days!  I detest listening to the radio for longer than about 20 minutes, so this was going to be a long drive unless I figured something out.  Jonas suggested I pray for the whole drive up and back, but let's face it, I'm just not holy enough to sustain 4 hours of continuous prayer.  ;)

THEN I remembered that I had a book on my Kindle that I had also purchased the audio for so I could listen to it while walking on the treadmill.  I had finished reading the book a long time ago, but at least it had audio, so I could re-read it.  The book is called The Lemon Tree and is really fantastic.  If you haven't read it, I'd highly recommend it.  It's a somewhat odd mixture of heavy history and very interesting personal details, so I wouldn't exactly call it a "before bed" read, but it's excellent none the less.  I listened to the 2nd half going up to Bemidji and then started it again on my way down.  After listening to so much about historic Palestine and the creation of Israel for 8 hours this weekend I have so many thoughts running around in my brain on this issue...but I'm pretty sure none of them would make a great blog post. ;)

It was really great to hang out with the Carons...as it always is.  Angie is about 6 days away from her due date and feeling more than ready to give birth at any moment, but alas, no real action while I was up there.  She, of course, looks insanely good for being 10 months pregnant.  :)  One little thing I helped her do was to set up a blog where she can keep photos of all the artwork her children create...therefore not having to keep all those papers around the house.  Love eliminating projects like that! :)

Bemidji seems to be about 1.5 months behind us when it comes to weather so I was glad we didn't have any "Fun in the Summer Sun" outdoor plans or anything.  I think it was even below freezing the night I was up there!

Jonas and the kids did totally fine without me.  Of course.

Okay, must run...Henry is about to arrive, and I need to get a grip on this day before it runs away from me.  Re-entry after the weekend can be a little tough sometimes.  ;)
