When dance was canceled for the year, Layla was crushed. She loves dance and swimming so much, but she especially loves to perform her memorized number in the dance recital each year (this is NOT my child, folks!). So yesterday I told her that her dance school had organized a socially-distanced opportunity for each student to come and perform for 10 family members or fewer outside. The church it is held at has a lovely courtyard, and so they set up a stage out there and had a place to take professional photos, photos in front of a banner, and gift bags for each student. It was really a sweet thing, especially for Layla. She started crying when I told her last night--so much happiness! Grandma was able to come and watch too, since she lives 3 minutes away (Jonas stayed home with Kellan as 2-year-olds are the WORST at social distancing). Layla loved every minute of this time, and BONUS, it was only 15 minutes long, as opposed to the usual 2 hours of a recital! 😂

The last week of quarantine July
It's been a low-key week post vacation. One morning Kellan and I went for a walk and found THIS beauty half a block from our house. He was about to demolish a garage and Kellan was so pumped up. He was using ALL his words.
Kellan loves to sing the "Finger Family" song with the old-school Fisher Price toys from my childhood.
One way to know your homeschool status: Do cardboard boxes regularly take over a good portion of your living space? If yes, you likely homeschool.
