Skiing in Colorado

Lisa usually posts to this blog, but since I'm the one who when on the trip I'll do it this time.

Noah Caron, Scooter, and I talked about going on a ski trip last summer and Ben hopped on board as well.  We originally planned to go to Lake Tahoe, but decided on Colorado, mostly because the flights worked out better.

On Saturday the 26th of March we all showed up in Colorado, rented a van, and arrived at the condo Scooter had rented for us in Frisco.

The next morning we were eager to get to the hill.

However...  Scooter got side-swiped in the van while going to grab some coffee.

Eventually, we did get to the ski rental place.

...and up to the hill.

Needless to say, we were excited and went straight to the top.

The first place we went was Breckenridge.

The village was nice and quaint.

Actually, most of the village was about halfway up the mountain.

Some great mogul runs on this mountain.

That evening we were visited by some moose who stopped the food delivery guy.

The biggest disappointment was Ben's health.  Not great.  He had a migraine even before he left and suffered from altitude sickness when he got there.  Here is Scooter taking him to the hospital after the first day of skiing.  Ben took the next day to recover but was only able to join us for most of the last day.  Hopefully next time it will be better.

The second day we went to Vail.  Here is the "village", which was very much like a European town.

Vail was ridiculous.  Massive bowls that went on and on.

I found this picture in a coffee shop and realized that we actually skied off this cliff.  :)

Here's the cliff again from the bottom.

And from the side...

And here's Scooter jumping off of it.

We found a tiny amount of power, but I was just thankful we had sunny days the whole time.

On the last day, we were going to go to Breckenridge again but decided to go back to Vail.  It was just too good to pass up and we wanted to show Ben.

We were laughing at this picture as Ben in the smallest and also the furthest away.  Noah is a giant and right up in front.

Unfortunately, Ben didn't last the whole day.

After the last day of skiing we stayed in a hotel close to the airport.  We were really just hoping nothing else would go wrong.  Here is Scooter sorting out our rooms for the better part of an hour.

Eventually, we got settled in, kind of exhausted but grateful for a good trip overall.

Ben and Scooter at the airport.

Overall it was just a great trip.  Let's see if we do it again next year!!
