Happy Birthday, Finn and Cora!

We had such a wonderful time celebrating Finn and Cora's birthday's with my family this past Saturday evening.  The weather was more like mid-May rather than mid-April, so we were outside most of the time in the backyard, other than for gifts and cake.

So here is the deal.  Jonas is pretty much the best Dad ever.  Remember that treasure hunt he created months ago?  Well, Finn had SO much fun doing it that I asked Jonas to do another one as a birthday gift for him.  Jonas is never one to do a job halfway, so he went ALL OUT and did another amazing job.  Finn, of course, was in HEAVEN, as you'll be able to see from his reactions.  He is also completely amazed that we have now found TWO pirate treasures on our property.  :)
The first clue discovery.

And he's OFF to get the second clue!

Pure delight, every single time.

"The tongue of concentration."

Jonas does insanely good work.

He's describing his thinking process here...

He ACTUALLY does this when thinking, and talking about thinking.  SO cute.

Final clue...off to get a shovel!

Found it!!

His reaction:

A sad moment:  Finn is having a hard time believing that the hunt is really over.  He wants to keep finding clues, even on the inside of the treasure box.  Sigh.  :)
 On to presents inside!

Last year he got a wood ax from Aunt Laura and Uncle Scooter...this year he got a REAL ax from Papa.

Cora wanted Uncle Jon to help open all of her gifts.

A treasure spotting scope!

He got a space Master Viewfinder.  Classic toy.  LOVES it.

Aunt Donna (My Mom's sister) gave them each a little tin case filled with quarters.  NOW they can feed the goats at the MN Zoo forever!!

BIG hung for Aunt Donna!

Cora's cake

Finn's "Space" theme cake.

She kind of spit out her candles, but she got them...eventually...

Showing off one of his space cupcakes...

Continuing on the Schaefer manly legacy... ;)
