We have a reader!

Tonight Layla should have been in bed, but she wandered into my room, picked up her first *A* book through our phonics curriculum, sat down next to me, and read 22 pages.

She is VERY proud of herself, and I'm very proud of her too!

My reading philosophy, and how to teach it, has totally changed in the last 15 years.  It has been so much fun to see how easy, painless, and tear-free it is when kids are old enough, and totally developmentally ready.  It's been less than a month of phonics (never more than 30 minutes on any given school day) and she is reading.

Hooray!  WORLDS of FUN await this little girl.  I can't wait to talk with her about them as she experiences them all.  :)

She will soon leave these boring phonics readers in the dust and move on to the wonderful books of childhood!
