We have had a really lovely start to summer. Last week was quite warm a few days (95 degrees, and our central air broke, so Jonas got me a few window units to save my sanity until it is functioning again, bless him!), but this week has been HEAVENLY. Low to mid 70s, breezy, partly cloudy...all the good things! I am loving it and soaking it up as only someone who hates heat can, haha.
I hate heat personally, but I love it for my kids and the fun they have in it, and there has been much "having of fun" in the backyard and neighborhood.
| Jonas was helping the kids create a "whirlpool" where they all walk in the same direction and get the water really swirling. |
| Let me tell you, giant bubbles are fun for ages 1-99. Good times! Best $15 ever spent, haha. |
| Layla and Finn provided some during-dinner entertainment for us outside... |
| Finn was also pretending to be a waiter, so that's why he has the tie along with the t-shirt, haha. |
| He loves the sandbox more than all his other siblings combined. |
Different day, same story:
Yesterday was national "Get Outside Day," which we had no idea about, but we ended up at William O'Brien State Park along the St. Croix River along with EVERYONE else it seemed, haha (we have a State Park parking pass, but the park was waiving the $5 parking fee for the national "holiday," so maybe that is why so many extra people were there. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot, but not many people by the lake or along the walking paths...most of them just parked to take their boats and kayaks into the water. It was such a beautiful day!
| She is SO CUTE. |
| The kids had great fun sliding down this rock that was deposited there by a glacier moving across the land. Fun, fun! |
| I was so thankful for how much shade the trees provided, and how awesome the breeze was. |
| Claaaaaaaassic. |
| Cora and Kellan playing "5 little monkeys" this morning on the trampoline. |
| See that orange bowl? He filled the entire thing with the little bucket of that backhoe. SO adorable. |
| Dinosaurs, trucks, and cooking/baking |
| This Sunday was made perfect for Kellan by use of the "fire hose". |
Jonas made woodfire pizzas again on Friday night. Our neighbor traded us salad and cookies for pizzas.
Last week we delivered banana bread to some friends from church. On the way home Jonas and the kids stopped at a lake to explore a new trail.
Last Saturday we went to the public beach at White Bear Lake. It's a really nice area, but we didn't get to use it much because it was SO windy. I was loving it, but the rest of the family was a little cold, so we didn't stay too long, haha.
SO many house projects accomplished these days! Jonas built Layla a screen of sorts to use for making Barbie videos. Here she was painting it.
The back porch got a refresh of paint:

| This bright green bush in the center of the picture is TAKING OVER the front yard. I am worried about it breaking into the foundation, haha, and Jonas is trying to grow more of them in the backyard! |
