Post-Thanksgiving family dinner:

Greg and Andrea weren't able to join us for Thanksgiving this year (They were in Iowa with her family--and we're thankful they were, too, because Andrea's grandfather had a heart attack at their Thanksgiving dinner, and Andrea was able to do chest compressions and bring him back to life...after he had no pulse.  So scary.  Thankful for her nurse/CPR training.  All parents should know how to do CPR!), so they joined us on their way home for a family dinner (Eric was still in town too...).  We almost didn't make it because Finn really wasn't feeling well.  For the previous two days he had been coughing and coughing, sounding pre-croup to me, but I used lots of essential oils on him, humidifier at night, etc. to hopefully stop things before they progressed further.  He had an awful night of sleep the night before, and so he fell asleep during rest time yesterday.  I sent Jonas ahead with Layla to my parent's house, and I let Finn sleep another 45 minutes before trying to wake him again.  THAT was a much better plan.  He was still hacking up a lung when he woke, but he was much happier than the previous wake-up attempt.  And, when we walked into the house they were just sitting down to dinner anyway, so we didn't miss anything! :)

Guys, my Mom can make some amazing soups.  Jonas was even talking about them as we settled down in bed--he thinks it's her "best" thing she does, and I think the rest of the family might agree.  :)  For his last birthday dinner Jon Horsman even asked for a "Trio of soups," anything Mom wanted to make.  Last night she made three turkey-based soups, and wow.  Awesome stuff.  My favorite was the curry one, but Jonas really liked the dill and havarti one too...

I then left dinner earlier with Layla, as she needed to get to bed much earlier than Finn because of his unusual nap.  Jonas stayed behind for a while with Finn, and that's when tehse pictures were taken.

Uncle Eric hanging him upside down.

Clearly time for bed, even for the kid who had a long nap.  :)

The good news in all of Finn's health stuff is that he had a much better night of sleep last night.  He went to bed late (9:00 p.m. vs. his now-normal 6:30 p.m.) because of his late nap, but he slept straight through until 6:30 a.m...no waking for coughing.  Hopefully he has turned a corner!  Ah, the joys of illness with little kids who are too young to take strong medicine.  :(
