Post birth: in the hospital and the first few days at home

Just before I forget...my last two pictures pregnant:
39 weeks.  Eviction day.

Last picture as a family of 5.  My Mom took this moments before we drove off for the hospital.

After the c-section I actually didn't end up seeing Kellan again for a long-ish time...maybe 5 hours or so?  They had him in "special care" for over 24 hours because he had to be on an IV antibiotic (I had a uterine infection during labor), and because his oxygen stats kept dropping very low when he would get into  deep sleep.  They needed him to stop doing that before he could be released to my room.  :)
This was the first time I got to hold him and try nursing, about 6 hours post labor.
He latched on great right away and nursed for about 15 minute!  Way to be a stress-reliever, little man!
He was certainly all hooked up to a million things.  :(
I guess he didn't cry at all while getting his IV put in...
Kellan was born around 10:30...or was it 11:30?...on Tuesday night, April 24th.  We didn't have the kids come see us the next day because 1) Kellan was all hooked up to wires and things in special care, so they would have had to go see him there, and I know for a fact Layla would 100% have lost her mind and emotional control over that, and 2) I was still in pretty rough shape at that point, hooked up to IV antibiotics as well, and not walking well yet, so we didn't want the kids (mostly Layla) to see me that way.  They are SO SENSITIVE, guys.  We face timed with them on an iPad, both with me in the hospital bed (up close so they couldn't see anything) and with Kellan in the special care unit.

Then the kids and Grandma came to meet him on Thursday, mid-morning.  They were so excited and sweet, but Layla...oh, Layla.  Layla sobbed almost the entire time.  She was SO relieved to see that 1) I was not dead, 2) Kellan was not dead, and 3) she got a baby brother that she could really hold and take home.  She cried and cried.  It was the sweetest thing ever.  That made me and Grandma cry too, haha.
Layla crying tears of relief and joy.
Finn and Cora in the background eating as many hospital snacks as possible.

Being all cute with Aunt Lauren.

Trying to get Layla to laugh a little so she could stop crying...

Meanwhile, STARVING Cora had moved on from chips to my omelet.  She at 90% of my breakfast that day.

What a proud, sweet big brother Kellan has in Finn.

Oh she was so delighted.

Still working on what to touch, and how to touch it...haha.  :)

This child is already SO WELL LOVED.

Jonas ended up taking the older 3 on a walk around the outside of the hospital so Grandma could finally get a turn to hold Kellan.  Isn't this a pretty marsh area?  Last time, for Cora, our room looked out over this pretty place.  This time, no luck.  And we were there FIVE DAYS, too, so we could have used it more this time I think!

One last cuddle with Kellan before she left for the day.

THIS was as entertaining to the younger 2 as Kellan was.

One of the last pictures in the hospital.

Finally home, and doing all sorts of baby holding all day long...

This is one of my favorite stages with babies:  the one where they just sleep on you all the time and make cute little noises.  Love.

Me and Kellan, for the next 2 weeks...

Sleeping in all sorts of awkward positions...

Big Guy lost another tooth!

She can never, ever get enough...

You can generally find me on the couch, or in bed, doing this.  Haha.
It's a rough life, but someone has to cuddle this baby 24/7!
