Another week, and into August now!

Now that he can walk so easily, Kellan LOVES going to new, open spaces even more.  The library took on a whole new enjoyment for him last time.  This one loves freedom and independence far more than Layla and Finn did at this age, that's for sure.

You can see my hand in the bottom right corner?  I would push as hard as I could against each stack to try to keep them tight in there and keep him from pulling them off the shelf.  I was only about 50% successful.

This is classic all three of them.  Especially Finn and Cora, and ESPECIALLY Finn on the furniture.

Kellan learns the joy of being chased:

Kellan hears a puppy bark in the middle of NOT saying Papa for me (which he says all the time):

Little man is way into cooking now...or "HOOOOOT" as he calls it.  He can open my pots and pan drawers by himself and even take some of them out by himself.  Let me tell you, independence is the BEST THING for babies!  They are SO MUCH HAPPIER when they can move around and get what they want on their own.  All those crazy people who say "oh, you're in for it now!" when your kids learn to crawl or walk are just that...crazy.  My life gets SO much better when they have their freedom, haha!  :)

Kellan loving life:

Last week we learned that our dear friends, Piyush and Ruchira, had their home burn down at the end of June!  You may remember pictures from this house from the last 2 years of Layla's birthday parties?  They are now living in a penthouse apartment in downtown minneapolis while they begin the long rebuilding process (thankfully no one was home when it burned down due to faulty lights), so we went to visit them and bring them pizza last Sunday.  The kids fell in love with their new even better pool, haha.

A view from one of their windows.

Their pool.
Have you ever had Johnny Pops?  They are from Costco, although I am sure you can get them elsewhere too, and they are delicious.  Kellan is a HUGE fan of them, but I get to eat the first half when it is still hard, and then he eats the second half when it's easier to hold and easier to eat.  He is so quiet during this time, and he little slurping noises crack me up.  That's probably just a mother thing, eh?

Johnny pops require a bath after.

More "hot" with Cora.

I will always love this.  Always.

So, you can see in this picture, especially compared to the last one, Kellan has a new injury.  I was letting him walk in hard soled shoes for the first time (not sure why...it's not recommended for little feet under 2 years old anyway) and he majorly bit it on the sidewalk and got half his nose skin scraped off.  He would touch his nose for the rest of the night and look sad.  Sorry, buddy!  :(
Thursday of this week was ALL outside, all swimming, all friends.  A perfect summer day.

There are 4 kids under the water here.  Maybe 5 actually...

Kellan got up at 5:15 for the last 2 days, WIRED and crazy, so he had a 2 nap day today.  This was at Grandma's house while Finn and Cora did therapy with Henry.

Jonas took the older 3 to the drive in again last Sunday night to see the new Lion King.  I'm guessing they had an even better time without Kellan interrupting every 20 seconds, and I sure had a nice time alone at home as well...haha.  Ah, alone time.  The holy grail of the introverted mother.

The thinker.

We had some friends over for dinner last Friday night.  SO MANY KIDS (and an adult) in the pool!

An exploration of Johnny pop pictures:

Pretending we care about sports, as parents...haha.

The older 3 kids took a free art class through Artmobile at our local rec center on Friday afternoon.  Thank you, well-spent tax payer dollars! :)
