2 to 3:

Even though you can't really tell any difference, with bad overhead lights and shades drawn, these first pictures were taken at night.  Layla went to be an ordinary 2-year-old...

...who likes to pick her nose...

...excited for a full night of stuffy-nose sleep...

And then she woke up this morning a THREE YEAR OLD!  THREE!  Here she is, trying to get the hang of that number:

She thought it was sooo funny.  And so she stuck her tongue out.  In every picture.

Finn is mad because Layla is holding her special birthday book from Mama, and he wants it more than life itself.

Layla is totally oblivious.  Working on "3."

Finn has decided that on Layla's 3-year-birthday, HIS own life is over.  ;)

Happy Birthday Layla!

* Yes, she is still in a crib.  Yes, she is going to stay in that crib.  How long?  Well, as long as I can possibly get her to stay there.  :)  She will be in the crib until it becomes dangerous...or her 9-year-old body just won't fit anymore.  She can get IN the crib by herself by climbing up on that black chair we keep next to it and then swinging herself over.  She has never once tried to climb out of it, so we'll wait until she gets that idea...and then we'll take away the chair for sure.  I just don't GET the people who rush their kids to sleep in "big kid beds" at 18 months...because...why?  I'm convinced it's the weird parent pressure / guilt / "THEY are doing that, we should too!!!" stuff that takes over parents brains if they are not careful.  Sleep is just too precious to mess with a good system.  The end.

Finn is currently in a pack-n-play in our room, next to our bed.  If he ever becomes a good sleeper we will put them both in the same room...and then they will both get to be in cribs next to each other.  Awwww.  Cute idea.  But not yet.  :)  We've got Finn's crib ready and waiting at Aunt Renee's house, when that day comes...
