Happy 34th Birthday, Papa!

On Friday Jonas turned 34, so we made a day-long party out of it! :)  The kids and I met him at Lake Johanna for a picnic on the beach.  Here he is, the happy birthday boy with his two kids:

Once Jonas left Finn decided to go in the water.  With his shoes on.

So Layla did too.  But only after lifting up her skirt so it didn't get wet.  :)

Then for dinner we drove over to Punch Pizza on Grand Avenue.  THIS is how you know we are parents, folks.  THIS.  We sometimes do this:  We get several pizzas from Punch, then bring them out to the car and eat them in there while the kids watch the DVD player and eat crusts in back.  They are not old enough for restaurant behavior yet, and we like to eat HOT Punch Pizzas.  So there you go.  Parenthood at its finest.  :)

Jonas, fully enjoying his pizza.

Yummy stuff.
After dinner we went down to "our" beach at Lebanon Park to do some Friday night swimming.  There was NO ONE there...we could not figure it out until we realized it was the start of Labor Day weekend.  :)

Layla, following Finn around, telling him "no no" all the time.

Finn got Layla's sun glasses and was VERY into them:

Papa trying to help a kid out...

He's a funny guy!

Layla and all of her STUFF she has to carry around these days:
A toy phone
Her field journal (miniature)
Her purse with sunglasses in it.
A bottle of baby Tylenol (????)

Chubby baby cheeks and lips.

As an added birthday treat for Jonas we came home to Police parked in TWO of our assigned parking spots!!!  Who do you call to ticket someone when the police are parked illegally in assigned spots???  The dispatcher said "she couldn't get ahold of them on the radio."  We waited for them.  Turns out they were eating dinner at Ferns (bad taste right there...) and "didn't know" the spots were assigned.  Yeah.  Right.  They couldn't see the big sign posted RIGHT IN FRONT of where we park?  They probably don't have much training in stuff like that (*eyeroll*).  Jerks.  They just parked there because they CAN, because no one can do anything about it, and because the other parking lot was full on a Friday night.  Very unimpressed with police like these two fine guys.  :(
