Adventure Thursday: Splash pad day

There are lakes and pools everywhere around here...you trip over them if you walk a few feet...so splash pads are something more rare and fun for my kids.  We went off this morning to one I knew about in St. Anthony Park (Emerald Park), but they didn't turn the water on until NOON.  For crying out loud.  We've had breakfast, lunch, and done 3 hours of a fun activity by then!!! Who doesn't start water until noon??  :(  So we drove allllll the way back to East St. Paul and went to the Conway Rec Center that has a very small splash pad...just jets of water shooting out of the ground.  Sigh.  The kids love it, but I wasn't a huge fan of all the wasted time we spent in the car today.  We had to get home by 12:15 to be there when Layla's friend was coming.  Ah, well.  Enjoy the pics.

At Emerald Park:  no water.  Boooooooo.

Finn wanted me to take the video below at the park across from Emerald splash pad:
(would you let me know if you can't see this video?  Some people can and some can't, it seems...)

At Conway Rec Center:  Finn chose to sit in the shade with me while the girls played.
Correction:  Finn chose to sit in the shade with snacks while the girls played.

A video of Cora enjoying the water:

The high temp was 90 today.  The kids have been swimming for the past 3 hours now, in our backyard (why did we ever leave, right???) and Layla is loving having a friend from Kindergarten over to join in.

I'm in a foul mood today due to my secretarial work at church.  Hit me up by phone, text, or email if you want an ear-full on people who won't commit and dig in to the hard work of making a church run.  Sigh.  Someone bring me a summer drink, already!  I need a sangria or mojito STAT!
